Yesterday at Green Lake, a little squirrel hopped up on the bench beside me. I had put my half eaten apple down earlier, as I was taking a break and just enjoying my book and the park.
He scampered closer and began eating my apple! I was happy to share it (it was clear who needed the calories more) and after he took two bites, HE GRABBED THE ENTIRE THING WITH HIS TEETH AND CALMLY TOOK OFF WITH IT!!! This was not a small apple, it had to weight almost as much as he did.....he took it to his tree and started eating some more. THEN HE PROCEEDED TO CLIMB THE VERY TALL TREE WITH THIS HUGE APPLE IN HIS JAW!!!!
It was amazing. He found a branch he liked and sat there and ate it. Right as I was leaving he dropped it and it rolled down the hill. My servile tendancies towards animals came out and I ran down the hill and fetched it for him. He watched me with great interest. I placed it at the base of the tree and ran to get my camera. He obliged me by coming down and eating a little more before abandoning it for I don't know, stealing a watermelon off the bench down the path maybe? Clearly there is little this squirrel isn't capable of hauling off. Next week I'm bringing more healthy, squirrel oriented snacks to see if he comes back.

Thank goodness a use for all of these small containers and tins I seem to be accumulating lately. I love this!Sheep ahoy!
I think these would be the perfect group craft activity for my craft afternoon.....are you interested, floatytoes?Shroomy cuteness!

I'm currently on a mushroom and tiny house making binge. Mine are kind of winter-y and Christmas-y, but it would be really cute to do some for Halloween. While checking out her mushrooms, I once again fell in love with Allsorts craft room. The latest pictures make me long for a second bedroom to convert into a truly lovely space to do crafting.
Ahoy, Halloween!

While I don't think I'm going to decorate for, or celebrate Halloween this year (just too busy and without my favorite little furry mascot, it won't feel the same), I do like keeping up with Halloween trends. That's too much pink, even for me, but I like the technique of tying fabric around the wreath.

Really, is there any part of that picture that doesn't fit our lifestyle, floatytoes? I bet they can make it in orange or purple, too. Oh, ETSY, why so fabulous?Cat ownership: you're doing it WRONG!

I own none of these. This could be a problem. Little has already bookmarked a selection, and has been cooing in my ear every morning about he never pooped outside the box, made me wipe his fanny or peed on towels, and doesn't that deserve something more than a little dried chicken?
WELL, DOESN'T IT?!?!?
I sense a rebellion in the works.

I honestly don't know what to think--yes? no? Best idea or tackiest thing you've ever seen? As my friend Lee would say, it's strangely compelling. Floatytoes, should we be heading to Home Depot this weekend to build one of these, or signing up for the crazy cat lady class?
Don't judge me! Sob!
